Various soccer clubs from all over Europe go during the winter season to Belek in Turkey in preparation for the second half of their league season. Some European countries, including Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium, have a winter break in January, because of the cold weather in these countries during that month.

Turkey, and especially the seaside resort of Belek, is a popular destination for European soccer clubs, because of the good weather, a wide range of high quality hotels and a large number of well-maintained soccer pitches. Over recent years, clubs from Romania, Hungary, Russia, Belgium, The Netherlands, but also from Turkey, have enjoyed the facilities during their winter training camps in Belek.

Belek is located about 18 miles (30 kilometers) from the well-known Turkish city of Antalya. During high season, this seaside resort, has approximately 10,000 inhabitants, but during low season, Belek has only about 750 people living there.

Belek has become a popular destination because of the luxurious resorts, wide range of 4- and 5-star hotels and an impressive amount of golf courses with 9-, 18- or 27 holes. Some of these golf courses have been designed by famous golf champions, including Jack Nicklaus, Collin Montgomerie and Nick Faldo.

Watersports and Skiing

 Sport enthusiasts can also enjoy various water sports and a go kart circuit in this Turkish town. Close to Belek, you will find the Koprulu Canyon National Park, where you can raft or canoe. Please be aware that the water in the National Park will be very cold. On the slopes of the Tauris Mountains, which are approximately an hour’s drive away, you can also ski.

Belek’s Cultural and Natural Attractions

Nearby cultural attractions include the ruins of Perge and Spendos and the historical town of Side.

In addition, people who love to spend time in nature, will love the Eucalyptus Forests around Belek, while there can also a large number of bird species be found at the beaches and dunes and some of these birds are really unique. The Kursunlu waterfall is definitely also worth a visit.
